​ My interest in WWII combat aircraft began in childhood. Stories of legendary fighter pilot Greg "Pappy" Boyington and VMF214 fighting the Japanese over the "slot" sparked my interest to fly over the Solomon islands.   While I won't be strapped in a  heavily armored Vought F4U Corsair, my humble RV will have to do.  I plan to fly over Vela Lavella, New Georgia, Iron Bottem Sound, and land at historic Henderson field in Honiara, Guadalcanal.  Of course the VMF214 logo will be affixed on the tail of the aircraft.
